چکیده

The kinetic study on the oxidation of aniline with oand p-methylaniline by ammonium persulfate (APS) has been carried out. The course of copolymerization was investigated by UV-vis spectroscopic method. Structural characterization was studied by FT-IR spectral analysis. The electronic spectra of the copolymers poly(aniline-co-p-toluidine) and poly(aniline-co-o-toluidine) show hypsochromic shift. The shift has been observed in the bands corresponding to π→π* transition as well as in the exciton transition. The increase in absorbance recorded during the reaction for different concentration of aniline, oand ptoluidine at various times of intervals of polymerization reaction indicates a growth in the polymer formation. The degradation curve can be fitted reasonably well by an exponential decay of APS, suggesting first order kinetics. The resulting first-order rate constant was used to calculate the rate of copolymer formation using the rate equation –d[A]/dt =kcn.

Study on the Thermal Decomposition Kinetics and Calculation of Activation Energy of Degradation of Poly(o-toluidine) Using Thermogravimetric Analysis

Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) analysis was employed to investigate activation energy (Ea) for the process of degrading of poly(o-toluidine) (POT) applying Horwitz & Metzger, Coats & Redfern and Chan et al., methods. POT was synthesized by chemical oxidative polymerization method using Ammonium per Sulphate (APS) as an oxidant while Dodecylbenzene Sulphonic Acid (DBSA) and sul...

Donor–Acceptor-Based Poly(toluidine-co-chloroaniline)s: Synthesis and Characterization

A series of poly(o-/m-toluidine-co-o-/m-chloroaniline) copolymers of different compositions were synthesized by an emulsion method with ammonium persulfate as the oxidant. The conductivity of the copolymers was two to five orders of magnitude higher than that of the homopolymers poly(o-toluidine) and poly(m-chloroaniline). Among the copolymers, the copolymer of o-toluidine and m-chloroaniline e...

In Situ Chemical Oxidative Graft Polymerization of Aniline from Fe3O4 Nanoparticles

This study aims at exploring an effective route in the in situ graft polymerization of aniline from Fe3O4 nanoparticles. To this goal, Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were prepared by coprecipitation method using ammonia solution as the precipitating agent, and were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM)....

Mathematical modeling the effect of catalyst initial shape and the crack pattern in olefin copolymerization

A two-dimensional (2D) single particle model for the copolymerization of propylene-ethylene with heterogeneous Ziegler-Natta catalyst is developed. The model accounts for the effects of the initial shape of the catalyst and carck/ pore patterns on the copolymer composition, polymerization rate and the average molecular weight properties. The spherical and oblate ellipsoidal shapes of catalyst p...

Grafting Copolymerization of Cationic Vinyl Monomer with Quaternary Ammonium Groups onto Polypropylene

Grafting polymerization was a valuable method for the modification of the chemical and physical properties of polymer surfaces. In this paper, the grafting of cationic vinyl monomer with quaternary ammonium groups, methacryloxyethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (DMC), onto the isotactic polypropylene (iPP) granule was performed by suspension solid-state grafting process. The techniqu...
